On behalf of our client, we are looking for a number of Intermediate and Senior Project Managers to support the execution of capital projects, particularly terminal stations, throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage several projects/programs concurrently at various stages of execution.
• Participate in knowledge transfer activities from existing PMs, as required.
• Complete Project Scope Statements (PSSs) for any newly assigned projects.
• Develop realistic schedules, in conjunction with the project team, to complete projects.
• Conduct progress update meetings with the customer, as required.
• Conduct regular progress reviews with contractors.
• Support the customer construction billing process by working with the Key Accounts Lead, as required.
• Create and execute project work plans and revise, as appropriate, to meet changing
• needs and requirements.
• Set up new project work orders, as required.
• Manage day-to-day operational aspects of projects and scopes of work.
• Demonstrate leadership in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) through continual improvement and active participation in corporate HSE processes and training activities.
• Initiate and monitor all aspects of the project to ensure compliance with schedules and budgets.
• Ensure Project Change Notices (PCNs) are properly prepared, evaluated, estimated (as required) and authorized.
• Ensure all approved changes are communicated to the project team and reflected in the active project budget and schedule.
• Ensure that potential impacts of project changes from cost, schedule, safety and quality/reliability perspectives are identified and communicated to the customer and other stakeholders in a timely manner.
• Submit weekly timesheets for accrual and invoice backup.
• Establish and manage projects’ risk registers
• Identify and respond to issues, implement timely interventions or escalate, as required, to ensure project outcomes comply with project and customer plans
• Participate in incident analyses and Post Implementation Reviews to determine root causes and identify lessons learned.
• Ensure that terms of agreements or commitments are understood and fully respected.
• Ensure that work packages are developed and leveraged by the project team.
• Determine insurance requirements in consultation with the Risk and Insurance Division.
• Establish the necessary level of site presence during project execution.
• Plan and complete Field Safety Interactions.
• Manage the commissioning phases of the work.
• Complete periodic reforecasts of project budgets.
• Complete monthly capital reports.
• Complete monthly commitment and accrual reports.
• Complete year-end capital reports including variance explanations, as required.
• Complete project closeout and asset assignment activities.
• Ensure continual improvement is nurtured through lessons learned sessions, supporting
• innovative approaches and communication to other project teams.
• Participate in Basis Of Estimate (BOE) reviews for input into future estimates.
Experience
• Experienced intermediate or senior project managers with electric utility experience at 46kV voltage level or above.
• Professional electrical engineers are preferred, but other candidates will be considered, based on secondary education and work experience.
