Tim Anderson

Fisheries Biologist

Tim Anderson has had over 35 years’ experience in various aspects of fisheries in Newfoundland and Labrador. From a freshwater perspective he has extensive experience in all aspects of salmonid research and, in 1985, he published ‘The Rivers of Labrador’ a 389 page Special Publication of the Journal of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences. As a fish habitat manager with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans he initiated the development of a freshwater and marine habitat inventory. Also with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans he oversaw the implementation of the Oceans Program in Newfoundland and Labrador. Key milestones in the program included designation of two Marine Protected Areas, establishment of a Marine Environmental Quality Program and identification of Large Oceans Management Areas. Following retirement from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans in 2006 he has worked as an Independent Consultant on a wide range of projects involving fish and fish habitat in Newfoundland and Labrador.

In both 2007 and 2008 he was employed directly by Sikumiut Environmental Management Ltd. to undertake both freshwater and marine investigations related to the proposed development of uranium by Aurora Energy Resources Inc. in northern Labrador.
