On behalf of our client, SEM is looking for three Capital Construction Planners to support developing, implementing, and maintaining detailed construction schedules for capital projects in Bishops Falls and Bay d’Espoir.
Key Responsibilities
• Collaborate with project estimators during the capital budget phase (year prior to execution) to develop the work breakdown structure for capital construction.
• Determine outage requirements for proposed projects during budgeting.
• Identify construction resources, tools, and equipment needed during budgeting; ensure proper task breakdown and logic for capital construction, including site visits as required.
• Develop, maintain, and optimise construction schedules for capital projects using Primavera.
• Define construction timelines, milestones, deliverables, and critical path activities.
• Assist in levelling internal construction trades resources with regional work execution groups based on equipment outage schedules; identify resource gaps.
• Add internal resource requirements (labour, tools, materials, consumables) to project construction work orders.
• Ensure internal construction resource allocation aligns with project budgets prior to filing the capital budget application (CBA).
• Review construction schedules and task sequencing with regional site supervisors.
• Track schedule performance against planned progress during execution.
• Monitor daily/weekly progress and update project schedules with site visits as needed.
• Prepare progress reports and lookahead schedules during construction.
• Identify schedule risks, delays, and mitigation strategies; communicate and coordinate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure alignment.
• Attend planning meetings during project execution and communicate schedule risk to project teams.
• Coordinate project interfaces between teams to avoid conflicts or delays related to internal construction resources.
Qualifications
• Engineering, Technologist, or equivalent experience in construction planning and scheduling.
• Knowledge of construction planning techniques and utility capital projects.
• Experience with Primavera scheduling software preferred.
• Field experience in utilities capital projects considered an asset.
• Proficient in MS Office.
Note: Candidates must reside in or be willing to relocate to project locations
Contract - 1 year with possible extension
