Construction Management Representatives (CMRs) – Hydraulic Generating Unit Stator Rewind

On behalf of our client, SEM is recruiting three Construction Management Representatives (CMRs) to support a generating unit stator rewind and associated system upgrades at a remote facility in the western region of Newfoundland and Labrador, approximately one hour from Deer Lake.


This project is critical to maintaining unit reliability and enhancing condition monitoring and data availability. The successful candidates will provide construction management services throughout the outage period.

Project Overview

•    Planned unit outage: May 31 – October 9, 2026
•    Site support activities for the primary CMR may begin as early as April 2026 on an as-needed basis
•    Work will be performed in a remote location with extended workdays due to travel requirements. Living in the west coast region would be a benefit

Positions

•     Day Shift CMR
•     Night Shift CMR
•    Relief CMR available to provide coverage as required

Work & Responsibilities

The CMRs will provide oversight and coordination for contractor-led work, including:
•    Supporting logistics, material delivery, and site preparatory activities prior to contractor mobilization
•    Coordinating initial mobilization of the construction contractor
•    Oversight of stator rewind activities, including:
o    Removal of existing armature bars and end winding systems
o    Installation, testing, and commissioning of a new armature winding system
•    Oversight of installation of a Brush Dust Collection System, including:
o    Vacuum unit installation
o    Modifications to existing brush holders
o    Integration of nozzles and manifolds
•    Rotor cleaning and testing activities
•    Installation of:
o    Rotor Flux Monitoring System
o    Continuous Partial Discharge Analysis (PDA) monitoring system compatible with existing hardware
•    Coordination with internal teams completing:
o    Data acquisition system upgrades
o    Installation of new instrumentation, cable trays, and cabling
o    Major unit overhaul activities during the outage

Work Schedule

•    Contractor schedule: 12 days on / 2 days off
•    Night shift is anticipated for approximately 9–10 weeks, tentatively June 20 – August 20

Job Requirements

•    Experience in the construction industry
•    Relevant safety training and certifications
•    Previous experience as a Construction Management Representative or similar supervisory role
•    Experience with comparable large-scale mechanical or electrical generating unit work
•    Prior experience working on major capital or outage projects in Newfoundland and Labrador 
•    Candidates must be comfortable working extended rotations in a remote environment
•    Strong coordination, communication, and safety leadership skills
