Intermediate or Senior Planners

On behalf of our client, SEM is seeking two Intermediate or Senior Planners to support Capital Planning and Project Execution Departments. These planners will assist in developing future capital budget applications for both Regulated and Exploits non-Regulated capital programs and support the execution of approved capital projects. The successful candidates will work collaboratively with various internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective planning.
Key Responsibilities
Planner - Capital Planning
•    Plan requirements for capital budget estimating and proposal development.
•    Level internal engineering and trades resources for future capital budgets.
•    Conduct labour analysis and resource leveling, identifying constraints before capital budget application (CBA) filing.
•    Review labour requirements and collaborate with project managers to develop schedules including tasks, milestones, and deliverables.
•    Identify generation outage requirements and coordinate with Resource and Production Planning (RPP) and regional operations for annual generation outage scheduling (GOS).
•    Assist with outage planning for 5- and 20-year capital plans.
•    Plan engineering services work requests from Operations and Major Projects.
•    Review and validate construction sequencing, methodology, material lead times, and task durations with owners’ engineering and construction teams.

Planner - Project Execution Improvements
•    Oversee current year generation outage planning involving multiple concurrent work scopes.
•    Link critical activities and outages across multiple projects in coordination with project teams.
•    Attend meetings with Newfoundland System Operator (NLSO) and RPP to maintain and update GOS, coordinating revisions with asset owners and capital project teams.
•    Maintain outage information in outage database.
•    Develop and track capital project milestones and provide regular progress updates to senior management.
•    Pilot earned value analysis and develop planning reporting improvements including Power BI dashboards.
•    Coordinate and integrate the work of regional Capital Construction Planners.
•    Develop, implement, maintain, and analyse engineering, procurement, and construction schedules for regulated and non-regulated capital programs.
•    Implement selective activity duration verification and contingencies for future project plans.
Education & Experience
•    Degree or equivalent experience in Business, Commerce, Engineering, or Technologist in planning and scheduling.
•    Knowledge of capital planning and scheduling techniques.
•    Experience in utilities industry capital project environments is an asset.
•    Up-to-date with construction techniques and industry trends on labour, equipment, and material lead times.
•    Proficient in Primavera and MS Office.

Contract (1 year with possible extensions)
