SEM is seeking an experienced and motivated Manager of Labrador Operations to lead the day- to -day operations of our Town of Labrador City office. Reporting to senior management, this role combines operational leadership, project management, client relations, and hands-on field work.
The successful candidate will be a key local presence in Labrador West, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the high standard our clients expect.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Leadership
- Manage all day-to-day activities of the Labrador City office
- Lead by example through professionalism, integrity, and accountability
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful workplace culture
- Ensure corporate policies, work culture, and safety standards are upheld and adhered to
- Contribute to general report preparation, proposal writing, and other duties as required
Staff & Scheduling
- Manage Labrador-based staff, seasonal field staff and contract employees
- Work with SEM teams to build and complete weekly office and field schedules
- In conjunction with SEM managers, ensure all Labrador West staff hold proper work permits and training
Project & Client Management
- Manage projects primarily related to Labrador W
- Coordinate with project managers on work approvals and task assignments
- Liaise with clients and government officials, maintaining professional communication
- Assist with project logistics and daily operations
- Obtain Pit Permits and other required approvals
- Manage and support field work, surveys, and maintain/operate equipment
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Post-secondary education preferably in Science, Engineering or a technical degree/diploma.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, including 5 years in a supervisory or operations role
- Experience working in the mining, resource, or environmental consulting sector is an asset
- Field experience in environmental work
- Familiarity with the Labrador West region and its regulatory environment is a strong asset
