SEM is seeking an experienced and motivated Manager of Labrador Operations to lead the day- to -day operations of our Town of Labrador City office. Reporting to senior management, this role combines operational leadership, project management, client relations, and hands-on field work. 

The successful candidate will be a key local presence in Labrador West, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the high standard our clients expect.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Leadership

• Manage all day-to-day activities of the Labrador City office
• Lead by example through professionalism, integrity, and accountability
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful workplace culture
• Ensure corporate policies, work culture, and safety standards are upheld and adhered to
• Contribute to general report preparation, proposal writing, and other duties as required

Staff & Scheduling

• Manage Labrador-based staff, seasonal field staff and contract employees 
• Work with SEM teams to build and complete weekly office and field schedules
•  In conjunction with SEM managers, ensure all Labrador West staff hold proper work permits and training

Project & Client Management

• Manage projects primarily related to Labrador W
• Coordinate with project managers on work approvals and task assignments
• Liaise with clients and government officials, maintaining professional communication
• Assist with project logistics and daily operations
• Obtain Pit Permits and other required approvals
• Manage and support field work, surveys, and maintain/operate equipment

Qualifications

Education & Experience

•  Post-secondary education preferably in Science, Engineering or a technical degree/diploma.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, including 5 years in a supervisory or operations role
• Experience working in the mining, resource, or environmental consulting sector is an asset
• Field experience in environmental work
• Familiarity with the Labrador West region and its regulatory environment is a strong asset
