Junior Project Coordinator

SEM is a locally owned multi-disciplinary consulting firm providing a comprehensive range of professional services in the natural resources sector and other industries. Our experienced and collaborative team offers locally relevant and practical solutions to support responsible development across Newfoundland and Labrador.

We’re looking for a Junior Project Coordinator who is passionate about environmental stewardship and ready to support impactful projects from planning through execution. As a Junior Project Coordinator, you will support the planning, execution, and delivery of environmental consulting projects. This entry-level role is ideal for someone organized, proactive, and eager to grow in a mission-driven organization.

Responsibilities
  • Assist project managers in the coordination of projects, ensuring timely deliverables and budget adherence
  • Track project progress and update schedules, budgets, and reports
  • Communicate with internal teams and external clients regarding project status and updates
  • Maintain and prepare project documentation, including contracts, permits, and regulatory filings
  • Support proposal development and help prepare technical reports and presentations
  • Help organize fieldwork logistics, including scheduling, travel, and equipment needs
  • Participate in team meetings, take notes, and follow up on action items
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree Civil / Environmental Engineering, or a related field
  • 0–2 years of professional experience (internships or academic project work are welcome)
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • A team-oriented mindset with a desire to learn and grow
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for site visits

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Monday.com)
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and permitting processes
  • Experience in an environmental, engineering, or consulting setting
