Labrador West Pride 2021 was another great success!

SEM's very own Corinna Wentzell, an Environmental Technician at the Labrador West office, is co-chair of Labrador West Pride Inc. Corinna says "I think it is important for us to support and participate in Pride events because it means that we support inclusion and diversity. You don’t know anyone’s story. I think it is very important that everyone feels that they can be themselves and be able to talk about who they love. Being an inclusive and accepting business, organization, and community goes a long way in ensuring everyone feels valued and accepted. "

Corinna shared some highlights from this year's events that were held from August 2nd to 8th:

For 2021, Lab West Pride was held primarily virtually. The virtual Pride walk/run/bike ride was a great success! You can check out some photos from the event here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/labwestlgbt

The team also held a various craft events fair, and the family resource center hosted virtual book readings, as well as hosted a curb side pick up Pride-themed craft. The local library in Labrador West, held a contest for those who shared their crafts on social media.

The team garnered significant community support from a wide variety of organizations. The Town of Labrador City, the Town of Wabush, IOC, the local RNC branch, the hospital and the Labrador Gateway tourism center participated in the Pride flag raising!

Congrats to Corinna and the Lab West Pride team for another great year of Pride Week events in Labrador West!
