Geomatics Specialist

Christina Burke is a Geomatics Technologist with SEM based in St. John's, NL. Originally from rural Newfoundland, Christina has always been passionate about enjoying and protecting her natural surroundings. Following her graduation with a diploma in Geomatics/Surveying Engineering Technology from the College of the North Atlantic in 2019, Christina continued work with the college as an applied researcher. This work allowed Christina to develop her skills with geospatial sciences and then apply that knowledge to various public and private industries. Throughout her time as a researcher, Christina gained significant experience in working with mining and mineral exploration companies throughout the province. Christina has developed a keen interest in GIS, remote sensing, and 3D modelling technology and is particularly interested in applying her skills in areas such as environmental management, cultural heritage preservation, and social innovation. She firmly believes that there is always something new to learn and hopes to continue growing her knowledge and skills throughout her career.

In addition to her Geomatics Diploma, Christina recently completed a Bachelor of Technology Degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador. She has also held certifications as an Open Water Scuba Diver since 2006, a Pleasure Craft Operator since 2007, and an Advanced Operations RPAS Pilot since 2019.
