Melanie is a Professional engineer with over 20 years experience in leadership and project management, overseeing a variety of teams and projects across the Northwest Territories and Nunavut. She has worked with the Government of the Northwest Territories, Department of Lands, as a Manager, Director, and Assistant Deputy Minister, and has extensive experience with consultation and engagement with Indigenous Governments and Organizations and other stakeholders. Melanie also has extended environmental experience as a contaminated sites senior advisor, policy advisor and analyst, and project manager with the Government of the Northwest Territories and as a consultant.

Melanie is an analytical, collaborative, and goal-oriented individual who is recognized as a strategic planner and decision maker. She is well-versed in the regulatory regime, social, political, and economic environment of Canada’s Northern Territories. Throughout her career she has been regarded as a trusted team member, communicator, change manager, administrator, and influencer behind the achievement of complex goals and objectives. Melanie excels at influencing and persuading internal and external stakeholders and can quickly adapt to situations and resolve issues and challenges.
